Q.Might Age Affect The ‘evergreen-ness’ Of My Holly Tree ?

Zone London England | Anonymous added on February 19, 2021 | Answered

I’ve a holly tree in my garden. It’s as tall as the house (1930 semi) and~foot in diameter. Each year fewer and fewer leaves seem to stay through the winter and the odd ones that try don’t look very happy! Holly is slow growing I think so I’m guessing it is a old tree.

Hollies are generally hardy so check yours for insects and disease. Environmental problems also can affect them. Here are some references that should help pinpoint the problem. Pruning can also increase vigor.
