Q.Loquat tree

Zone Penn Valley, California... 95946 | hook added on December 2, 2017 | Answered

Our loquat tree is full of blossoms, but it’s getting cold here now. Do I need to cover the tree to save the blossoms? Do Loquat trees flower normally in November and December? Our winters do freeze, no snow however. This is the first year the tree has blossoms, but I’m worried this isn’t the time for blossoms!!! Help….

The cold will kill the blossoms. The tree can survive colder temperatures, but the fruit will not form unless it has a long enough time to ripen. I'm afraid covering them won't prevent the cold from damaging blossoms. These articles will give you more information on the care of the tree: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/loquat/
