Lilac Color

Question

I have a lovely lilac bush. Two years ago, the flowers were white and very lovely. Last year it was green and healthy, but had no flowers. This year it is green and healthy and the flowers are opening, but this year they are the traditional lavender. I have never heard of lilacs changing color before. We did have snow on the ground very late this year, but still….Do you know anything about this?
