Q.Lilac Bushes Have Failed To Bloom

Zone 81401 | Anonymous added on May 8, 2021 | Answered

The lilac bushes this year have failed to produce any blooms. Last year they were spectacular and previously have never disappointed. Is it true that they may just be on “hiatis”?

There usually is some reason. Did you have some late frosts? Did someone prune too much or at the wrong time? I'm assuming it gets enough sun since you typically have blooms. It could have gotten too much nitrogen fertilizer.
