I just moved in my home and I got 100 sq meter area which is covered with stones which you find on railway tracks.under these stones is a plastic sheet .I have tried digging under these stones and found slay soil.I want lawn growing in this area been advised to put 6 inch of top soil over it .I am not sure if grass will grow over these stones please advice. Kind regards

It would be best if you could rake out the rocks and plastic sheeting. If that is not an option, then covering the rocks with at least six inches of topsoil should take care of the problem. Here is more:
