Q.Katrina climbing rose bush

Zone baton rouge, la | Anonymous added on September 6, 2017 | Answered

It has lost a significant amount of leaves. I live in south LA. We have had an abnormal hot, wet summer. The leaves on the bush are healthy. There is no black leaf fungus. Wondering what needs to be done. Thanks.

The problems you are having are indeed linked to the abnormal heat/weather conditions that many across the USA are experiencing this year. I too have been dealing with the heat and what seem like very intense rays of the sun. I am not so sure that our ozone layer is okay even though news reports would have us believe it to be so. I recommend keeping the rose well watered using some water that has a product called Super Thrive in it. Use this mix the next 4 to 5 times she needs watering. The super thrive goes a long way to helping our roses deal with shocks and stresses. Rinsing off the foliage with some cool water in the early mornings or early evenings once the temps have cooled off some can help as well. Here is a link to an article on this subject for you as well: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/roses/leaves-falling-off-roses.htm
