Q.Just Planted New Green Acer In Pot. Did Light Prune, Noticed To Main Stems Were Very Close Together. Trird To Pull Apart A Bit, Ma
in stem then split…. almost to base of main stem. Can I repair a split main stem? Have taped it together for now in desperate attempt to save. Would this work? Any recommendations to save it?

I would recommend tying it together with string, or something non-adhesive. Trees have a natural ability to heal split wounds, as long as they are braced, and can breathe. Tying it and making sure that it does not split, further, will be best.
