Japanese Cherry Tree

Question

I have a Japanese cherry tree I think. The guy told me last year when I bought it that it was a redbud that I bought end of summer so had no leaves on it. But anyway it bloomed this year just before and had white flowers on it and then they fell off which I know that’s what trees do . But now the tree looks like purple buds coming on it. I don’t understand it. Thank you . I will upload a picture from last week and now. The white flowers were on it first then fell off now the purple
