Q.Is there a granular pre-emergent weed killer that can be used, safely, with Blue Liriope?

Zone Hernando, Ms. USDA Zone 7 | Anonymous added on August 18, 2020 | Answered

I have a sloped area in my yard that is subject to erosion, and I’ve planted Blue Liriope to remedy the situation. Additionally, I’ve planted five Crape Myrtles to serve as a screen between my and my neighbor’s house. Consequently, the birds, while roosting in the Crape Myrtles, deposit the seed of many weeds in the Blue Liriope. HELP!

This is a question for your local garden center as we don't make product name recommendations. There are products, however, that will prevent weed germination in garden beds but the existing weeds must be removed first.

Pre-emergent herbicides are generally prescribed for lawns: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/weeds/pre-emergent-herbicides.htm
