Q.Is It Okay To Put Straw Under Baby Cantaloupes To Keep Them Off Of The Soil

My cantaloupes are doing well but want to keep them off the red dirt and there growing out of garden into lawn. So I’ve put some Straw/Hay underneath the small fruit to help keep them off ground. Do you think this will be okay, would love you opinion. Thank you. Rita

This is common practice and is perfectly fine! Just make sure you know that the straw is disease free. Here are some articles that will offer information:
