Q.Is It Normal For My Indoor Oxalis To Be 10″ Tall And Leggy?
Last summer was very hot and dry in Texas. I have always had oxalis outside and in shady areas. They did great; but I lost all of my oxalis due to the drought…and I must add that at 87 yrs old, I just cannot get out to tend to them as I used to. I bought 2 plants online and have each one in a 6″ container. My Daddy had a nursery in Gainesville, Tx and he introduced me to the oxalis. He died in 1973 and I dug most of his plants and replanted them to our West Texas home. I cannot imagine not having oxalis in honor of him. My indoor plants are thriving; but I have never seen oxalis 10″ tall! I researched the plants before I purchased them because I wanted the old fashion pink flowering plants. They are so tall that they fall over the side of the planter. I even have had several blooms this winter (they sit in an east window, with a shade that I can pull down if it is too hot. What to do? The outside plants were clumped and low growing. I’d appreciate any help I can get.

I suspect it is not getting enough light. Do you have a south facing window? The old fashioned, pink variety takes part to full sun outside so indoors try to duplicate that light. It can get up to a foot tall but since yours is falling over, it sounds like not enough sun. Make sure it is getting enough water. This variety will go dormant if it is not watered adequately.
