What do I need to do to my iris to prepare for fall/winter?

Pittsburg, KS is in zone 6b, which means a lot of iris varieties can survive the winter in the ground. Wait until the foliage has naturally yellowed, then cut it back, marking the spot so you don't accidentally plant something else on top of it. You might want to mulch the area before winter sets in.
