Q.Indoor plant/purple orchid.

Purple Orchid was a gift, received back in April. there were 2 stems/branches?, both had pods and all of them bloomed. Then, one by one, all the flowers; on only one of the stems/branches drooped, and I removed them, one at a time. Now, 3 weeks later the bare stem/branch has turned light purple and cream, almost all the way down to the soil. The top portion withered, turned light brown and I just cut it off. What do I do about the rest of that empty stem/branch that has changed colors. The other stem/branch looks great, only one of the 7 flowers is starting to wilt, which I would normally remove carefully. The plant is in a guest bathroom, no direct light but has good light. What would be your recommendations? Many thanks.
