If The Magnolia Seed Either Floats To The Top Or Stays At The Bottom When Soaked In Lukewarm Water, Which Seed Is Bad

I live in alabama and the tree is old with several pods that are beginning to show seeds – I want to grow another tree from these seeds

In the case of acorns, the floaters are the ones that should be discarded. I don't see this test attributed to magnolia seeds. Here is more:
