Q.If I Put The Stem/trunk Of English Ivy In A Bottle Of Round-up Will It Kill The Ivy Without Damaging The Tree It Is Attached To An
d growing on. My 100ft oak has lots of ivy growing all the way to the top. I cut the ivy trunks about two feet from the ground about two months ago in hopes of killing the vines. Nothing is dead. Is the ivy feeding off the tree? I thought about inserting the ivy trunks into a bottle of 50/50 round-up but I’m afraid the round-up may go through the ivy into the tree thus killing the tree. Most of the ivy trunks are at least one inch in diameter.

You could, certainly, try that! Theoretically, your idea is sound.
