Q.Calla Lily Blooming

Anonymous added on May 2, 2014 | Answered

If a calla lily bulb is planted outside in May, when will they bloom? My wedding is in Oct. and I would like to use calla lilies for my bouquet. I just found a source for the bulbs today. If I plant them now, will they bloom by Oct. 18? Should I start them in a pot inside now and then transplant them outside? What is best?

Blooming times vary depending on location, temps, soil, etc. Generally, following their spring planting, they should begin blooming in summer. Most will bloom anywhere from 3-6 weeks with adequate care, though by October yours may be nearly finished for the season (not at their peak).
