uttings from the shrub and form a hedge around my lawn. What are my best options for propagating cuttings from the myrtle hedge? S hould I try to root cuttings separately ( which I have never done before) or plant them directly around the perimeter of the lawn? The season is currently in last stages of winter, with temperature between 25F (-4C) and 40F (5C).

You should root them, and grow them in container for a year. This will ensure that you have an established shrub to take the guesswork out. This way, you have as many as you need without worry that there will be bare spots because some shrubs failed to root outdoors.
