Q.I want to identify a plant by its appearence

Zone North Central Massachusetts | Jan 4 added on April 29, 2014 | Answered

What is the common name for a large cactus type plant, like Iron plant, but has thick spear shape, grey green leaves and has a tall (like a telephone pole) stem with small arms at the top with mounds of buds. It is about 2 yards wide at base and maybe 20 feet tall. I saw this plant in San Antonio, Texas
