A sturdy container a few inches wider than the root ball will work. Vertically it could be about 1 1/2 to 2 feet, depending on what size nursery pot you get. Use a good potting soil for containers. You are in zone 5b, so you will need to give your plant some winter protection. The mops are hardy to zone 4, and it is best to have a buffer of 2 zones for containers. You can move it to a more sheltered location out of the cold winds and you can wrap the container in blankets or bubble wrap.
