Q.I read your article on caring for Creeping gloxinia (Lophospermum erubescens). How large a pot and what kind of soil is best?
Is it a desert plant?

The larger the better! These plants will have to be divided out, eventually, no matter what size container that you choose. A well draining, somewhat sandy soil is ideal.
It likes places where it is hot and rocky and could possibly tolerate desert conditions, as long as this is not a place that gets exceedingly cold at night, as some desert areas tend to. It is better suited to warm rocky mountainsides or cliffs. It does well in hanging baskets or climbing a trellis.
