They are hardy to zone 7. This means that they will survive a winter down to 0F. The top of the plant will die off well before this, but the roots will go dormant and survive well below freezing.

They will usually prefer to be sopping wet, similar to a bog, but during the winter dormancy, they will like it to be moist but not saturated as they would during summer.
