Q.I need help with my Polka Dot Plant

I have a polka dot plant that I adore, however, I am unsure of how to keep him looking thick and healthy.
I have been told many things but mainly just to cut off a longer looking branch and simply stick it back into the dirt underneath near the main growth branch and it would simply root on its own.

Is this true and if not, is there a video to watch how to do it right?

You can just pinch them back to keep them bushy. Many times you can propagate just by sticking the cut stem in the pot, but here is a more dependable way:
