Q.Crepe Myrtle in Container

Maribell added on June 6, 2011 | Answered

I live in Miami. Can I grow a Crepe Myrtle in a big container? How big? My patio is not that big for planting a crepe myrtle on the ground.

You can grow it in a container. You can grow just about anything in a container, as long as you can provide enough water and light.

How big the container starts out just depends on how big the tree is that you get. For a patio tree, I would make sure that the diameter of the container was about 6-12" bigger than the rootball of the tree you will select. That should give you a few years, at least before you need to either root prune or repot to a larger pot.
