Elephant Ear Plants

Q.I have an elephant ear that was never planted.

It was bought by my lawn Care company and never planted. The boss give it to me because he was throwing it out. I would like to plant it in a nice big pot and put it inside under a light. Can I cut it back at the base and transplant it ?

Get it some water right away if not re-potting today.

I wouldn't cut it back to the base, although it will probably grow out again if you do that. I would just prune off the drying leaves and leave some stem. There is a better chance of a quicker growth response, and that is important for survival at this time.
