Q.black knots on plum tree
I have a plum tree about 7 yrs. old. I cut about 10 black knots out early spring. Now tree is loaded with plums but there is about 50 black knots in it. My question: are the plums any good to eat? Should be ripe in 2 weeks. After harvest, should I cut the tree down? If I cut knots out, no branches would be left. Also, can I plant a new one in the same spot?

Yes, the fruit is perfectly fine to eat. That being said, the health of your tree will eventually decline if left untreated, causing a decrease in the number of fruit produced in coming seasons.
