Q.I Bought A Beautiful, Large Aralia. It’s 7 Lobed Leaves Look Like A Marijuana Leaf But I Know It’s Not That Plant. The Tag Sai
d it’s a Aralia but had no care instructions. Can you identify the plant for me and give me care instructions? The plant was thriving when I first got it but it got bugs. I used a systemic insecticide and Neem Oil on it. It’s been slowly dying ever since although there aren’t any bugs in the soil or on the plant anymore. I did leach the soil because I thought that insecticide in the soil was the problem. It’s much thinner now because the leaves slowly drop off lobe by lobe. It gets new leaves and then they shrivel and die. I’m in tears because I love this beautiful plant. How do I care for it?

Aralias are the kind of plant that like moist soil, but not soggy, while allowing the plant to dry out a bit between waterings. They especially do not like windy or drafty spots so keep them well protected. Unfortunately they are a favorite of very common pests such as spider mites, aphids, mealybugs and scale so continuing to watch out for insects is imperative. Here is more:
