Q.vine for top of pergola
I am building a fence with a pergola top and would like suggestions for a vine to plant that will grow across the top. The area is shady due to the neighbor’s tree. Soil is clay. I would like a “light and lacy” vine rather than something heavy. Flowering is ok but not necessary. I have done a lot of research and talked to the guy at the nursery but still not sure what to plant.
You may want to address the clay soil before planting.
This will make the process easier and overall a healthier planting.
Clematis may be a good choice.
