Is it ok to cut my hydrangeas down to the size I want? I prefer them to stay at a medium size so it won’t take so much space in my garden.

As long as you don't take more than a third of the plant at any given time, this should not be a problem. However, make sure you prune at a time that won't affect its blooming.
