Q.how to treat bugs on bulbs?

Zone williamsburg va | Anonymous added on September 15, 2019 | Answered

I have dug up my iris bulbs and daylilies to move; I noticed they all have these little white bugs crawling on them and some have holes in them and are rotten. These bulbs were my mom’s who has passed away, and I do not want to dispose of the bulbs. While I have the bulbs dug up, is there anything I can do to get rid of the bugs now before I plant them? thank you

You can probably hose off the bugs or use an insecticidal soap. Since these bulbs have sentimental value, try cutting away the soft rot on the rhizomes to healthy tissue if any remains.
