Q.How To Repair A Very Large Hole In The Top Of Main Trunk Of 100 Year Old Maple Tree
I have a very old and large water Maple tree in my front yard. During a high wind, a very large limb, that grew out of the top of the main trunk was broken off, leaving a large hole facing up on the main trunk, catching all of the rain water, snow and open to the insects and animals. The tree I would guess to be over 100 years old and I would like to keep it. The rest of the tree is fine, with all of the limbs left on the tree a dark green and growing, but what should I do to save the tree?
