How To Maintain A Moss Garden

Hello, We have a large, well established moss garden in the south of Holland. This is old pine forest, so it grows very well. My wife insists on raking to keep it ‘clean’. My experience tells me this is how to remove moss, not make it grow better. Any advice would be appreciated.
