Q.How To Bring Jade Tree Back To Life?

Zone Las Vegas | Akoulavongsa added on August 9, 2020 | Answered

My jade tree is dying, the leaves are shriveled and the trunk is soft. Please help! I bought a tonic from a local nursery but it doesn’t seem to be helping. What am I doing wrong?

The symptoms of overwatering and underwatering are similar so you have to assess how you've been watering. Do you allow the soil to dry out between waterings? If so, that is good. If the soil is saturated you've probably been overwatering and the roots may be rotting. If you think it's been overwatered and root rot is setting in, you can carefully repot the plant in a clean container with fresh soil. Wait a few days before watering. I would also try rooting a small piece if you can find some healthy tissue, in case the plant succumbs. Since the plan's leaves are wrinked, you may think it us underwatered but more likely it's overwatered and the damaged roots can take up enough moisture and nutrients.
