Q.how long before esperanzas come back in the spring?
For three years in a row, I have had to replace all my esperanzas in the spring. I was told they were perennials.
When researching this plant, I came across many texans in forums who have had variable success in getting their esperanzas to overwinter successfully. Given the severe winter we have had, new growth has been slow to start on plants across the board. I would give your esperanza a little more time - it may start growing in late spring.
