Q.How Far Back Do You Trim the Flowering Stems

Zone MI | Lynnieka added on August 12, 2012 | Answered

On the Kalanchoe succulent plant, how do you make the blooms last longer? Do you water during bloom time and how far back do you trim the flowering stems after the blooms expire? It’s a houseplant.

Yes, you would give the plant water during flowering as you would any other time. You need to water deeply but should let the plant dry between waterings to prevent root rot. Spent flower stems can be cut back to the base of the plant.
