Q.How Do You Keep Ants Out Of Hummingbird Feeders?

I always have tons of ants in and on my hummingbird feeders. How can I keep them out?

I have used the petroleum jelly trick and it works pretty well, but you have to reapply when rain sloughs it off. It is said to work better if you suspend the feeder with fishing line and put the petroleum jelly just on the fishing line. You can also buy feeders with moats or make your own.
