Q.How Do You Care For A ‘volunteer’ Black Walnut Tree?

Zone Carson City, NV 89705 | Anonymous added on May 27, 2023 | Answered

I have a ‘volunteer’ black walnut tree that started growing in Spring of 2019. The little guy was thriving until it was topped of by a deer. It has not bounced back strongly and I am wondering what, if anything, I can do to save it?

Topping a tree usually produces lots of watersprouts along the branches. If you see those, you can remove them. Keep it watered and continue its care, according to the article below.
