How Do I Prune Burgundy Canna Lilies?

Zone SC - HOT!!!!!! | cannalily added on August 10, 2011 | Answered

Have five beautiful recently planted, but mature, burgundy canna lilies. Several reach over 6 feet to flower. Two have broken off because of the height and weight with the large flowers. Is it ok to cut them above a new growth notch?

Yes, you can do that. They should bloom again after being trimmed down a bit.

This issue may indicate that they are not quite getting enough sunlight, so you may want to consider that when planting them next year.
