Q.How do I keep my uprooted rose bush through the winter?

Zone 13126 | Anonymous added on August 27, 2019 | Answered

Because we moved, I dug up my Mom’s rose bush (that had been there for 25 years), in July. I put it in a large bucket with good soil & kept it healthy to replant. It has fared well & is healthy. I’ve read I shouldn’t replant it in the fall because of exposed roots. My question is “How do I safely keep it over the winter?) Thank you.

Since yours has been dug up for awhile and is healthy, I would go ahead and plant it. Keeping it over winter in the bucket will just add more stress.
