How do I bring my bottle brush bushes back to life?

Question

A couple of years ago, there was a hard freeze and some of the branches died. I trimmed those off but they haven’t regrown. I’m wondering if cutting the thicker branches (like pruning a crape myrtle) will stimulate regrowth. Please advise.
