how cool can it be in order to leave plants outside?

I’m not ready to transplant plants. I just bought some but don’t know if 40 degrees is too cool to leave them outside at night.

40 degrees is probably too cool to leave them out at night - but it really depends on the type of plants you have. However, a good majority of plants prefer night temperatures 50F+.
