Q.How can you tell when Pomegranates are ripe?

Zone Palmdale, CA 93552 | Anonymous added on September 20, 2020 | Answered

I have a pomegranate tree with plenty of fruit on it. The fruit started showing up in late July and early August. The fruit doesn’t look as if it is ripe yet. The color of the fruit is still green or very light pink. How long does it take the fruit to ripen and how can you tell?

When the crown leaves turn inward, it's a good signal that the fruit's become ripe. It should feel heavy and the skin should be shiny and smooth. Here's an article that will help. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/pomegranate/harvesting-pomegranate-fruit.htm
