How Can A Trellis Support For An Established Wisteria Be Replaced Without Losing The Plant?

We live in UK and inherited the wisteria when we moved house. The support is a free standing wooden trellis that is broken and falling down. The main trunk of the wisteria has a diameter of about 3 inches and has twisted through a trellis gap.
