Q.Honey Locust tree leaves turning yellow on one side

Zone 76903 | mommio added on June 19, 2019 | Answered

My honey locust tree leaves are turning yellow mostly on the north side of the tree and in patches on the south side. I have fed it Sick Tree recommended by nurseryman. What would cause this?

These trees are susceptible to a range of pests, and diseases. It would be hard to tell which without having your soil tested.

You can apply wettable sulfur and dolomitic lime to treat many infections, but to get the best treatment option, you will want to find out exactly what is plaguing your tree.

I took your advice and went to County Extension office. "Tree" person out of the office for the next week. "Animal" person looked at leaves and didn't know what the problem might be. He thought perhaps the extremely wet spring may have something to do with tree problem--maybe with onset of summer heat (90-100 degrees) would help. He also did suggest that since the part of the tree most affected was next to my brick patio (sand bed under bricks) that perhaps the soil under the bricks was nutrient deficient and I could try pouring a Miracle-Gro solution on the bricks--letting it soak through the cracks between the bricks to add some nutrients to the soil below. Have done that while I await the return of the "tree" expert.
Thank you for your suggestions.
