Q.Holes/pest On My Sycamore Tree

I noticed some leaves are falling from my sycamore tree. I went to inspect my tree and saw some good size holes on the tree. Some of the holes are pretty deep at least 2-3 inches deep. Is there anything I can do to prevent my tree from dying? Or is it time to remove the tree? Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

Once it gets to this point, there is no saving the tree. Replacing it before it falls apart will be the best course of action. This article will offer some more information:
