Q.help with my red tip photinia tree

Zone zone 7--Hot Springs Ar. | miller sandra added on May 16, 2016 | Answered

It’s over 12 yrs. old and this year the leaves have brown spots and lots have fallen off. It started a year ago but I really didn’t think about it. Now it’s looking sad. What can I do? Cut it down (hate to lose it), trim it way back? Live in Hot Springs, Arkansas…zone 7. Thank you for your help! Sandy

It sounds like your plant may be suffering from Photinia Leaf Spot. If that's the case, approach trimming with great care. Check the photo and read the symptoms described in this article, and if they match what you're seeing, then you can try following the steps in the article: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/photinia/photinia-leaf-spot.htm

This article may help you with continued care of your Photinia: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/photinia/growing-red-tip-photinia.htm
