Help-its taking over my yard

Hello from Huntington Beach

We have an umbrella plant,cyperus, that has self propagated all over my back yard. It’s like a papayrus. I can’t pull it out of the ground and I keep cutting it back and it just keeps multiplying

How can I get rid of it?

You can also try cutting it all back and covering it with thick black plastic to choke it out
