Q.growing lettuce in container

Zone 6 | Casey added on April 7, 2014 | Answered

I would like to grow lettuce and cucumbers in a self-watering container that I am making in an 18 gallon tub. Can I do this because I understand the roots are shallow in lettuce?

This article brings up several aspects of growing lettuce in containers: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/lettuce/growing-lettuce-containers.htm
Here is a similar article on cucumber growing. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/cucumber/cucumbers-in-containers.htm
I've never tried growing the two together, but I think if you stake up the cucumber, it should work.
