Q.Growing Lavender

Zone 80550 | Anonymous added on July 18, 2018 | Answered

Will lavender grow more flowers if deadheaded or do they only flower once per season? I’ve never grown lavender before and just moved into a house that has a beautiful area filled with lavender

Lavender has one big flush of bloom in early summer. If dead-headed, it will send up sporadic blooms. Dead-heading also makes the plant look tidier. Don't confuse dead-heading with pruning. Lavender needs a hard prune in late fall (warner climates) or early spring (cold winters) to keep it from getting woody and floppy.
