Q.growing cherry plum trees from seed

MY PLUM TREES ARE ABOUT 22 INCH TALL WITH THE TALLEST AT 34 INCHES–BUT I ONLY HAVE THE CENTER STEM THAT IS GROWING LEAVES ALL THE WAY UP–THERE ARE NO BRANCHES GROWING OUT ??IS THIS NORMAL??THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE A CHERRY PLUM VARIETY- I STARTED THEM FROM PITS– & HAVE THEM UNDER A LED FULL SPECTRUM GROW LIGHT-SO, WHY DONT THEY HAVE BRANCHES GROWING??
