Q.Ground covering around large pecan tree
I have a large pecan tree (52″ diameter) about 15′ off of my back porch. No grass is around it, of course. So when it rains, it is just mud. I want to know what I can put there to stop the mud. I have thought about planting St. Augustine but even though it is a shade grass, I know it needs some sun and it will get none here. Can I put gravel around the tree or will it hurt or kill the tree? I do not want to damage this beautiful tree.
Thanks, Brian
